BETA TIDINGS A PUBLICATION OF BETA SIGMA PSI AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY SPRING 2020 Summer Curb Appeal Project! How You Can Take Part in Our Exciting Next Step A n early fall visit to the Fraternity house brought back a flood of memories and emphasized the blessings of brotherhood we have all been given. It also emphasized how much the physical house serves as an anchor point in our lives and brought back a sense of ownership. As alumni and owners, we should all want our shared home to be there for many, many years, and remain an anchor for future generations of Beta Sigs. BETA CHAPTER ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR CURB APPEAL PROJECT Old houses take maintenance and TLC, and 525 University is no exception. Owner-alumni can make a big difference with some elbow grease. We can make the property more appealing for residents, recruitment activities, and visiting families. We can also foster a sense of long-term loyalty and ownership in our newest brothers. If we roll up our sleeves and work together, a motivated group of Beta Sigs can make a vast improvement in the curb appeal in a very short time and have a blast while doing it. To that end, in conjunction with Rockville Reunion weekend (July 22-25) hosted by Dane Griffin '82, more than a dozen brothers have committed to getting together early for a work party to improve the curb appeal at the Beta Chapter House. Dave Shaw '83, Beta alumnus and landscape architect, has developed a detailed plan and cost estimate for the effort. CONTRIBUTIONS NEEDED TO MAKE OUR DREAM A REALITY We need your help to raise the $6,500 needed for plants and other landscaping materials. The need is great and the time is short. But right here and now, your financial resources are what will make the difference in the future of our beloved Chapter. Jim Muhl '82, another Beta alumnus, has graciously volunteered to serve as treasurer for the effort. Please make donation checks payable to Jim, and send to 8333 Carloway Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Donations are not tax deductible. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK We plan to meet at the house on Monday, July 20, to get started, and use the 21st for the main work session. This event promises to take us back to our days at Purdue: fellowship while working with brothers, walks through campus, evenings at local haunts, and being a resident of our former home for a night or two. We have permission and endorsement of the Alumni Board for this event and welcome all brothers who may want to join in. Don't miss out! It's going to be a great time and have a lasting impact! Thought for the future: Who knows where this might lead? What other facilities or organizations could a crew of Beta Sigs impact? Brothers and Philanthropy = "Bro-Lanthropy." Endless possibilities… To learn more about the project, please call or text Mark Kramer '80 at (812) 249-2175 or email mhkramer553@gmail.com.
