4B Daily News – Tuesday, April 16, 2013 TOPS #1711 elect new officers CROP Walk in Redding Shasta County's CROP Hunger Walk is part of the 2013 Whole Earth and Watershed Festival this year on Saturday, April 27. Shasta County CROP Walk has been an ecumenical endeavor for many years and raises about $5,000 each year. A quarter of the proceeds stay in Shasta County through People of Progress and Anderson Cottonwood Christian Association — while 75 percent is used globally where needed through the highly respected organization Church World Service. You can register at the CROP Walk Booth on Cypress Avenue in the Sculpture Park. Walk with the main group starting at 10 a.m. at anytime during the day, or simply make a donation. As part of the Living Streets project, Park Marina is closed to cars during the Festival between Athens and City Hall. If you want to walk with the main participants, meet at the start of the Open Street at Athens and Park Marina Drive at 10 a.m. and join the CROP Walk for about 1 mile along Park Marina Drive to the CROP Walk Booth at City Hall. Along the way there will be activities and music at the Village as well as a chance to visit the businesses there. At City Hall you will have a chance to check in at the Booth and then enjoy the Festival with a wide variety of Exhibitors, activities, music and food. There will be an event shuttle to take you back to the start.
