2 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA Campaign Goal within Reach (Continued from page 1) remembering the likes of Todd Foss '73, Toby Shotwell '76, Richard Iverson '66, Jamie Grant '91, and Nathan Beiswenger '99. Several ATWs will be reaching out to answer any of your questions with a goal of getting you involved either financially or as a volunteer. ere is not a lot of time to get to that debt-free goal, but we know with your help we can do it. A pledge form is included in the newsletter mailing or you can donate online at http://bit.ly/ATOUND. We know the undergraduates and future ATWs will be forever grateful for a great new living quarters, but most importantly a priceless opportunity for developing lasting friendships. Love and Respect, Tom Clairmont '61 Public Phase Campaign Co-Chairman (612) 387-6662 / tclairmont@usfamily.net Matt Honea '94 Public Phase Campaign Co-Chairman (202) 329-2113 / mwhonea@yahoo.com Insight from the Architect Kate Kvamme Keeps Delta Nu History in Mind During Construction Process T he new Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house has been designed in the Collegiate Gothic style to reflect the aesthetics of the existing architecture of the University of North Dakota campus. Common Collegiate Gothic style architectural features that can be found throughout the campus and that are echoed on the façade of ATW include a battle- ment roofline, Gothic arches and sconces framing the door and porch entrance, and cast stone quoining around the windows. When completed, the ATW house will look like it belongs at UND. e second floor consists of two- and four-bed bedrooms with a large cen- tral bathroom. A spacious and open living room, highlighted by a promi- nently located fireplace kitchen and dining spaces, as well as an apartment for the house director, are located on the main floor. e basement will have storage, study areas, and a large lounge area. A unique feature of the basement is a separate entrance that allows guests to enter the lower level and remain out of the private areas of the house during social events. True to the spirit of the "old" house, the front porch will look out over a slightly elevated, circular patio where ATWs in days past would play broom ball. e patio will feature a gas fire pit, located at a safe distance from the house and front row viewing of University Avenue happenings. As of March 1, Community Contractors Inc. will have completed in- stallation of the exterior walls, floor framing, window installation, and roof sheathing and shingling. e plumbing rough-in has been complet- ed. Ductwork and the electrical have begun. Brick and cast stone are scheduled to begin in April, as well as commenc- ing with the interior finishes. Commercial kitchen equipment installation will begin at the end of June. Completion is scheduled for mid-August. e Delta Nu alumni and chapter members will be very proud of this spectacular looking and functionally efficient fraternity house. Sincerely, Kate Kvamme, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP Kappa Alpha eta '04
