PAGE 3 FRIENDSHIP NOW "Following college, I was a dues-paying member, but missed out on several years of developing new and rich Pi Phi friendships," Jayme said. She was focused on her career and it took time before she reprioritized her Pi Phi membership. Now she belongs to a local alumnae club where she has made many new friends with a diversity of careers, passions and dreams. "I now understand that being part of Pi Phi all these years later is something to be treasured." Jayme also sees a greater purpose in Initiation and the Rituals established by the founders; these traditions create a common bond, tying together sisters across generations and wide- reaching distances. "However, the best part is knowing that I really never 'left the fold' and was warmly welcomed by the sisterhood." LIFE AFTER COLLEGE Jayme has worn many hats since graduation. She began in advertising and has since taught elementary school for more than 20 years. She has also pursued her creative passions, in part as an award-winning fiction writer, including two novels, Chasing the Butterfly and RUSH ("not the sorority kind," she says), with a third, Seasoned, slated for a November 2020 release. RUSH was Colorado's 2019 Village Read, an honor that brought with it several speaking opportunities as well as teaching at writers' conferences. Beyond that, Jayme works as a professional artist and studio owner, specializing in acrylic with large-scale floral abstractions. She both hosts and teaches art at her studio and enjoys helping students find, develop and enjoy their own creative pursuits. "Between enjoying these passions, I am constantly reminded how grateful I am to do what I love." Jayme and her husband, James, live in Lakewood, Colorado, where they are nearly empty nesters to three sons and enjoy time with their two needy Golden Retrievers, Bella and Millie. "We'll never know what the future holds but are thankful for our many blessings and know the journey promises excitement ahead." Connect with Jayme at jayme.mansfield@me.com.
