For their new construction home, the design-
savvy clients sought a kitchen designed for
two cooks who enjoy preparing healthy,
produce-heavy cuisine.
Open to the living space, the kitchen was to
be elegant. The kitchen is a play on the
balance of light, airy reflective elements with
heavier natural elements. A grain-matched
mahogany mass of full wall cabinetry is all-
wood construction, made from QCCI's Vision
collection, while the high-gloss white cabinetry
is made with QCCI's acrylic Radian collection.
The marble itself combines visual lightness
with heavy weight on the countertops and
mid-height backsplash. European design
principles prevail with integrated, paneled
appliances and extreme care with linear
breaks and flush planes to carry the eye and
create quiet continuity.
The design is loaded with special features. A
hidden broom pantry pulls out of what seems
to be an end panel; interior shelves of certain
cabinets are u-shaped to house rows of cans
around tall bottles in the center; pop-up
outlets keep the marble backsplash
uninterrupted; and flush integrated LED
lighting hides in the bottom of the shelves.
