CHAPTER OFFICERS RECRUITMENT UPDATE To start 2020, Beta Zeta welcomed 27 young men into the brotherhood. We're extremely proud of this group and excited to see the impact they'll have on the chapter. Furthermore, we're thrilled to have Dom Stornant '22 step into the role of recruitment chairman for the upcoming year. This past fall, we held two official recruitment events at the Shelter, as well as an event at Topgolf. TOP ACADEMICS Beta Zeta ranked first in spring 2019 academics for fraternities at Butler with a chapter GPA of 3.49. This was followed up with a cumulative chapter GPA of 3.43 for the fall term. We've always prided ourselves on academic integrity and achievement and look forward to receiving more recognition from the university this year. PHILANTHROPY DRIVEN This past fall, Beta Zeta held our annual Delt Dunk basketball tournament in support of the Matt White Cure ALS Foundation. Several fraternities and sororities participated, but more importantly, we raised over $8,000 in honor of Matt White '89. Additionally, we had success at our fall philanthropy event, Delt Taucos, raising over $1,000 for JDRF. We're looking forward to our annual Trike Week, which will be held this April. This weeklong philanthropy push supports Riley Hospital for Children in downtown Indianapolis. CAMPUS LEADERS Over the past year, Beta Zeta has made campus involvement a priority. Countless brothers serve in leadership positions in organizations that include Butler University Dance Marathon, College Mentors for Kids, Butler Ambassadors for Special Olympics, and Ball So Hard Indy. As part of the Dance Marathon's executive board, Matt Warren '20 raised over $5,000 alone for Riley Hospital. Furthermore, several brothers conduct research through their programs or hold campus jobs. FALL 2019 HOMECOMING We had great success this year during Homecoming week as Beta Zeta, along with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Tri Delta, earned first place. We proudly took home first place in four out of seven lip sync competitions in the fall, each supporting various philanthropic efforts. Internally, the chapter established a sustainability chairman for the fall semester to emphasize in-house green energy initiatives, such as recycling and energy- efficient lighting. Additionally, we focused on road programming, holding presentations on toxic masculinity, study abroad, and of course, sustainability. The brothers of Beta Zeta are eternally grateful to the generous alumni support we receive. We couldn't achieve our recent successes without you! As always, please reach out to me if you find yourself in the Indianapolis area and would like to visit the Shelter.
