Our joint Quartzsite History Speakers series with the Friends of the Quartzsite Library, which is par- tially funded by a grant by the Ari- zona Humanities Council, has been completed for this year. Again, we hope those who attended enjoyed the presentations and we have heard from folks that they would like us to do it again next year. Our committee selects topics we hope the community will fi nd interesting and informative. We are very for- tunate that Arizona Humanities of- fers these top-notch speakers to us. A special thank you to Billie Fowler and the library staff for hosting the speakers, as well as Jane Jennings for helping organize these wonder- ful events. Announcing our Community Rec- ognition Banquet: On Wednesday March 18 at 11 am at the Quartzsite Senior Center. This is an Inaugu- ral event (sponsored specifi cally by several donors) and intended to be held every year to recognize and honor museum members in three categories: 1. Volunteerism - this year three long- standing members will be recognized for their many years of commitment and dedication: Marilyn McFate, Kay Mooring and Arlea Long 2. Community Leadership - To Be Announced 3. Distinguished Donor - The Rice Family - Honoring Clarence and Mil- dred Rice for their donation of the property and stage stop adobe build- ing that made the museum possible. Because our honorees are actively involved in so many organizations in Quartzsite, the community is warmly invited to attend this event. Please invite your friends and help us celebrate! The Senior Center is located at 40 S Moon Mountain Ave. Lunch will be served. The event is FREE for QHS (Quartzsite Historical Society) mem- bers; $3 for non-members at the door. Seating is limited; please RSVP by calling the museum at 928-927- 5229 or Laurie at 650-291-1389. Last chance: We have received sev- eral entries for our Sundial motto contest, so don't forget to enter by February 29. To refresh your mem- ory, we are asking for motto entries for the sundial located on the prop- erty. Come on by the museum to see the sundial, for inspiration!
