I was born in the beautiful little river town of Van Buren, Arkansas. My days growing up in the Arkansas River Valley were surrounded by stunning views, hills, and trees. ere are three specific memories from Van Buren in the 60s that still ground me and make me happy. Fishing, Razorbacks and the Courier, aka the Press Argus-Courier, the hometown newspaper. I can still taste the catfish that we caught from the Arkansas River and the crappie that came from Clear Creek. I can still hear my daddy calling the Hogs as he stood in the living room listening to his transistor radio in his game-day red and white. I can still see and smell the ink on the Press Argus-Courier as I searched to see if I was listed as an honor roll student. (FYI, not usually.) ese things that created the fabric of my soul have carried with me all these years. As an adult, I found my career in a town that has many of the same characteristics, Branson, MO. I've called the Ozarks home now for nearly 30 years, and I find it just as beautiful as the first day I drove through the town. I'm thankful for the pieces of my childhood that have carried over. I'm still surrounded by excellent fishing options, I can follow the Razorbacks from anywhere in the world, and instead of waiting on the newspaper to print, I can bring it up online at any time of the day or night. e most exciting thing for me is that I get to tell you my story and share my love of all things Branson, MO. I will always be that Arkansas girl who calls the Hogs in public places, but Branson holds a special place in my heart. It's a continuation of my memories.
