8A – Daily News – Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Sierra Pacific Foundation Awards $369,750.00 in Education Scholarships The Sierra Pacific Foundation, the philanthropic organization founded by the Emmerson Family, recently marked its thirty-first year in granting scholarships to dependent children of Sierra Pacific Industries. “The Scholarship Committee was very impressed with the caliber of the students that were interviewed,” said Carolyn Emmerson Dietz, Foundation President. “We are very pleased to help these fine students further their edu- cation,” she continued. The Sierra Pacific Foundation was founded in 1979. In addition to scholarships, the Foundation contributes to youth activities and other organizations in the communities where Sierra Pacific Industries operates. The local students pictured below are a few of the 182 students who will collectively receive $369,750.00 to attend colleges, universities and trade schools during the 2010-2011 school year.
