FIRST PLACE / LARGE TRADITIONAL BATH
continued from page 13
The designer teamed up with the
homeowners on a major renovation to
convert an 1897 four-family structure into
a single family townhome. The objectives
included creating a distinguished home
to suit the coveted lot size and location,
while designing in functionality for the
home of 3 children under the age of 7.
The townhouse retreat master bathroom
became an opportunity to take exception
to some practicalities, and create a true
escape for two hard-working parents.
The style direction was classic with a
sheen of glamour.
In terms of fit, the designer located the
vanity centered on the skylight and ended
it in a location where a step-back in the
wall would be concealed in the future
millwork so as to avoid an awkward jog.
An array of identically sized drawer fronts
create high impact repetition and utilized
materials of white glass, silver leaf paint,
and clear glass knobs to create the
shimmer the client's were looking for.
The balance of classical trim work
and contemporary waterfall countertops
help to further the style goals of the home
at large.
