January 15, 2020 ww.DesertMessenger.com 7 Food Handlers Classes & Testings American Lands Access Assoc to meet 20 BWRC Wed Jan 15, DM.indd 1 1/7/20 1:38 PM La Paz County Health Dept. will host Food Handlers Classes and Test- ing at the Quartzsite Fire Station on Thursdays: January 16th at 8am; January 23rd at 3pm; and Jan- uary 30th at 8am. Anticipate one hour for the training. All individuals working in a food establishment who handle food and dishes must obtain a La Paz County food handler card per county regulation before working in the food establishment. Food handler cards must be posted during all hours of operation. Cost of the food handler card is $15.00 per year. Please bring exact amount. Volunteers for non- profi ts are free of charge for the card after passing the test. Other options: • Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Watch the video and take the test at the Parker location. 1112 Joshua Ave., #206, Parker, AZ. • Salome Location thru February on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am. Classes are given at VFW Post 3708, 66558 Hall Street, Salome, AZ. • Waive the test and present certi- fi cation from another county. Food handler class/test can be waived if the food handler has a current food handler card from another county ju- risdiction. Present a copy of the cur- rent food handler card in the offi ce and submit $15.00 for La Paz card. • Take an ANSI online course. Take an ANSI certifi ed online course. Submit the ANSI certifi cate and $15.00 to Health Department offi ce to obtain card. Certifi cation must be within the last year. ALAA (American Lands Access Association) is sponsoring an education- al and informational/discussion session for the Quartzsite community at-large on January 18, 2020 starting at 7:00pm. The session will feature a briefi ng on key recreational land-access issues and challenges. Quartzsite Community Center, 295 E. Chandler Street, Quartzsite, AZ. 2020 Annual Public Meeting and Forum "Recreational Rock hounding and Public Lands. The featured speaker for the evening is Congressman Paul Gosar, representing the Arizona's 4th District and Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, will be presenting information on Rec- reational Rockhounding and Public Land issues in the Western States, accomplishments in the Arizona 4th District and the Congressional Western Caucus as they pertain to Recreational Rockhounding.
