The idea that we can do more is summed up in AND. That all is possible if we believe in AND. What does Pi Phi's value Sincere Friendship mean to you? Pi Phi has given me some of my strongest friendships. The women I travel with, call when I want to celebrate or complain, have on a text thread that can cover serious topics or causal conversation are women I served with as a volunteer. I'm thankful for all these friends Pi Phi has put into my life. These women inspire me! Many of the women are involved in multiple student organizations and hold leadership within these groups. Kelly Johnson '17 is one woman who has taken on great responsibility in a student organization while remaining a dedicated member of Pi Phi. Kelly is the editor-in-chief of the Daily Illini, a student-run newspaper on campus that releases two papers a week. The Daily Illini is distributed around the Champaign-Urbana community and has a website that receives over 100,000 page views a week. As editor- in-chief, Kelly is responsible for leading a staff of 250 students, editing more than 50 articles a week and managing internal and community meetings. While balancing all this responsibility, Kelly remains highly active in Pi Phi events and serves as Social Media Chairman. "I love Pi Phi because it has given me some of my best friends in the world. I would not have met the people I consider to be closest to me without this sorority and for that, I am eternally grateful," said Kelly. Kelly Johnson '17 holding a copy of the Daily Illini.
