It feels good to get a compliment! Think about when
someone says you look nice or they notice you have a new
pair of shoes, or you make an awesome jump on your bike
and they tell you how great you did. I bet you feel awesome
when you hear something nice,
Did you know there is a special day to help remember
about compliments? January 24th is National Compliment
Day and with a little imagination and some markers or paint
you can make cool compliment tags to hand out on January
24th or any day.
Compliments are just as nice to give to others as to receive.
The hardest part is thinking about what to say and a lot of
kids and adults are shy about giving a compliment. Here
are some things you might want to make a tag for. And
remember, giving compliments is a nice gesture especially
when you are sincere and mean what you tell people.
Compliments can be about actions (things people did) or
about their character.
Examples of compliment "actions":
• Holding a door open or others
• Cooking a delicious meal
• Picking up something you dropped
Examples of character traits to compliment:
• Being a great friend
• Showing kindness to people or animals
• Making others laugh
Just telling someone what you noticed or sharing a
compliment is nice too. When you give someone a
compliment, you can see their face light up, and it's easy!
