Applications are now being accepted online at redfcu.org/scholarship. r e d f c u.o r g | 9 Another program that helps schools and other educational non-profits is Redstone's Affinity Debit Card Program. 2 It has raised nearly $250,000 to help schools and other non-profits provide everything from crayons to field trips. e program, developed in 2015, is another way that Redstone brings about positive change in the community and an added opportunity to support community-based education, says Peter Alvarez, assistant vice president of business development at Redstone. "Every swipe of the card gives back to the school," Alvarez says. One of the early beneficiaries of the program is Free 2 Teach, a non-profit that provides free resources to teachers, their students and their classroom. "rough this program, we are able to ensure that underserved children in Madison County's three public school systems have the supplies they need to be successful in school by providing their teachers the opportunity to shop for their needs in our store," says Eula Battle, executive director of Free 2 Teach. Applicants must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college or universit y to qualify for the scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing an associate's or a bachelor's degree. Must be eligible for membership and open a share savings account to join RFCU and become a member. A minimum balance of $5.00 is required to open share savings account and be maintained in share savings account at all times. Fees and other restrictions may apply. 2 Must have an RFCU checking account to obtain an Affinit y debit card. Must be an RFCU member and must not have caused RFCU a loss in order to be eligible to open a checking account. $25 minimum deposit required to open a checking account and monthly checking maintenance fees apply to the checking accounts.
