Mom Coco, heard there was an opening at Kappa Kappa Gamma and couldn't believe her luck. She's admired the beautiful architecture of the house ever since its renovation, so much so that her friend believes she manifested this position for herself. "I've always loved the house and am extremely blessed and grateful to be here," Carol said. While Carol notes it can be intimidating to move into a new place and not know anyone, she is already impressed how welcoming the young women are and knows her admiration for the house was rightfully so. Although Carol just moved in a couple of weeks ago, she already has her top priorities in place. The first is providing a safe environment for the young women living in the chapter house. Making sure everyone is mindful of personal safety and safe practices are in place at all times is important to Carol. Next, she wants to create a loving, emotionally safe environment for members. "This is a real component necessary for growth and if one can't feel that way at home, we are failing these women," Carol said. Just as her nickname proves, Mom Coco is always willing to be that motherly figure for the young women of Beta Chi so everyone to feels safe and loved. By fostering this environment, Carol hopes to make the chapter house a place where current and future Beta Chi women genuinely want to live. To Carol, going above and beyond in her role as house director means more than just keeping the house organized and clean. It means offering her skills to members whenever they're in need. Helping with resumes, editing letters for graduate school, and providing workshops in her areas of expertise, such as Enneagram and values clarification. She understands the stress most undergraduates experience and wants to create a space to relieve this within the home. "Having a house one feels welcomed, loved, and supported in helps improves personal and academic outcome," Carol said. Carol wishes nothing but success for the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma and if there is a way she can contribute to this she is more than happy to do so. As Carol builds a physical and emotionally safe environment for the young women of the chapter, she also hopes to build personal relationships with the women by getting to know every member. She aims to have a class night each semester where one Kappa class is invited to dinner to get to know her and strengthen their own sisterhood bond. With a supportive house director and these changes in place, Carol hopes Beta Chi will become even more visible in the Greek community and excel academically in a warm, welcoming home.
