MU NEWS Χ Ω Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of California-Berkeley Fall 2019 Womanly Always, Discouraged Never Leaders in Berkeley and Beyond M any of our sisters took their studies abroad this summer, traveling to London, Spain, and Australia. Others kept busy with summer jobs and internships, such as Adele Bloch '17 who worked as a data analyst for Facebook and Emma Vickery '18 who served as a software engineering intern for Amazon. The sisters of Mu continue to contribute to the Bay Area community and beyond. RECRUITING FOR CHI O Recruitment Chairman Olivia Bornstein '17 prepared and led Mu through fall primary recruitment. As a result of her leadership, we welcomed 42 new members to our chapter. New Member Educator Lauren Kapp '17 planned a wonderful Olympic themed Bid Day celebrating our newest sisters, complete with games and a photo booth to capture the memories. Since then, our new members have enjoyed several sisterhood activities, including picnics on the lawn, Owl Pal dates with active members, and showing Cal spirit at our fall football games. DEDICATED TO THE BERKELEY COMMUNITY As always, my sisters inspire me with their influence in our community through cultivating social consciousness as educators, advocates, and leaders. Laura McFarland '18 promotes sustainability and environmental justice as a member of Greening the Greeks and Epsilon Eta, a professional fraternity for environmentalists. Camellia Edalat '18 serves as vice president of philanthropy on Panhellenic and is a teaching assistant for organic chemistry at the University of California, San Francisco. These are only a couple of the women in Mu chapter who better our community through their diligence and altruism. We're excited to present our new members to their families by their Big Sisters during Homecoming weekend. We are also preparing for many chapter events, like our biannual scholarship dinner. Thank you to our alumnae for your continued support. Please feel free to stop by the chapter house for a tour at any time, our door is always open to you!
