To The Men of Sigma Pi, Jeff Knezovich has shared with me that your chapter is in the final phase of its fundraising campaign, which will soon open up opportunities to Central Illinois Alumni Association members for additional contributions. As Eastern's president, I'd like to extend my gratitude and encouragement to each of you for undertaking this important endeavor, and to wish you every success along the way. Those who came before you—both in Sigma Pi and across the spectrum of EIU's Greek programming as a whole—have worked hard to establish unique EIU traditions and legacies of success. More distinctly, I join you in celebrating Sigma Pi's 70-year history at EIU, and applaud the ongoing support of its more than 2,300 brothers of yesteryear and today in your comprehensive efforts to renovate the old chapter house. Distinguished alums like U.S. Congressman John T. Myers, Distinguished EIU Professor Bertrand P. Holley, Community Leader Eli R. Sidwell Jr., and NFL superstar and commentator Tony Romo would certainly be proud of your approach, and appreciative of your vision. Let me assure you that undertaking such a responsibility helps to reinforce the university's commitment to its robust Greek system, and that a successful campaign will help EIU Greek life at our amazing university continue to grow and prosper. Sidwell, our mentor, supporter, and energy for more than 65 years. Eli served Beta-Gamma as Sage and later Chapter Director, and Sigma Pi as Grand Sage. Eli was also the campaign's Honorary Chairman, something very near and dear to his heart.
