A lthough I have left my school days long behind, autumn still brings a sense of renewal, of starting fresh, and this year is no exception. I have the privilege of working just a few blocks from the UNL campus and our college home, and the energy of new beginnings exude from that beautiful structure on 16th Street. Throughout the pages of this newsletter, you'll learn more about the women of Pi Chapter and the new members we welcomed through recruitment in August. It's bound to be an extraordinary year given the talents and energy our sisters bring into our home. UPDATED GAMMA PHI This summer, the AHC board focused on several projects aimed to extend the beauty and life of our home, including cement work on our walkway and shared driveway with the Thetas, new paint in the sleeping rooms on the third floor, Wi-Fi upgrades, and a new door entry system with enhanced security features. We are grateful for the conscientious work of Rose Ann Rinne, parent of Alexandria Rinne '18, as she facilitated the process of replacing several bunkbeds. Thank you, Rose Ann! We will also implement a new landscaping plan with work beginning this fall and continuing next spring. Over fall break we will replace the bathroom tile on the second floor. ALUMNAE, WE NEED YOUR HELP So much of our work focuses on the house structure. As AHC directs its resources on investments behind the scenes—including boiler/chiller work, heat pump upgrades, and budgeting for roof replacement in the next two to three years—we also hope to provide an aesthetic upgrade that will enhance the beauty and comfort of our sisters. Along those lines we have a unique proposal for you. We think it's time to invest in new dining room furniture. Yes, it's true. We're exploring the replacement of the wrought iron tables and chairs that have graced the dining room for decades. We hope members from each class may come together to adopt a table with the goal of having each class participate. More details to come, but please consider how you may team up with sisters from your class to pay it forward. And, if you're interested in sturdy, "slightly used" garden furniture, just let us know. Thank you for your continued dedication to Pi, and please stop in when you're in the area. We would love to see you soon!
