After our council kicked off the spring semester with an overnight retreat, one of the main goals for the spring semester was to improve our Confidence Coalition by broadening its reach throughout campus and building stronger relationships with our alumnae. To achieve this, we handed out carnations with encouraging notes to people on campus and later passed out pens that had notes attached as well. Another area on which we put a strong emphasis was academic excellence. With the level of scholastic competition here at UT, we want to ensure that we are supporting our members in every way we can to help them succeed. To achieve this, VP Operations Prerna Pamar '17 set up tutoring sessions with HOFT Institute in subjects requested by the members and created a system for peer tutoring that boosted sisterhood. Prerna also did an excellent job with our professor dinner. The Sigma Epsilon sisterhood is focused on growing and fostering positive relationships with the UT faculty. A highlight of every semester are our Girl Scout workshops. This spring, we emphasized making the workshops more fun and interactive so we can make a greater impact with them. Our annual Shamrock 5K on the Texas State Capitol grounds was a huge success! VP Community Service Tori Schaefer '18 did a fabulous job of finding new ways for people to donate that were more accessible. Since Shamrock also fell on Dad's Weekend, we had a lot of dads join us for the event, which also included a yoga class. We had a great turnout and can't wait to do it again next year! Overlapping the same weekend as Shamrock 5K and Dad's Weekend, we hosted Kappa Delta National Vice President-Membership Karen Thomas Fesmire, Vanderbilt '77, and National Chapter Services Coordinator Teresa Theiling, Appalachian State '09, for our national visit and assessment. They worked with our sisterhood and recruitment teams in preparation for fall recruitment and met with each council member and each new member class. The chapter loved having them here and our council gained helpful ideas that we look forward to implementing! Love in AOT, Courtney Melcher '16 Chapter President utkdpresident@gmail.com Fun-filled Spring Spurs Excitement for Fall Semester Sigma Epsilon welcomes Kappa Delta National Vice President-Membership Karen Thomas Fesmire, Vanderbilt '77, and National Chapter Services Coordinator Teresa Theiling, Appalachian State '09, for the chapter's national visit and assessment.
