What made you decide to join Alpha Phi? I came to Mizzou from Illinois knowing only one other person, so I looked for a house with the most friendly and genuine women. I really felt at home at 906. What are your favorite memories from your time in the chapter house? My sisters arranged a double blind date, and as I came down that front staircase and saw the two men, I prayed "Please let mine be the blonde one." He's been my hus- band for 52 years. Top 3 Alpha Phi Events • Candlelight ceremonies where once around the circle meant lavalier, twice for pinning, and three times for engagement. One sister who was in on the secret would post a decorated message and provide a candle. I still have both of mine. • Winning Sorority Sing during Greek Week—really, all the singing. We had serenades from fraternities, and we sang after meals ourselves. • Our initiations in what is now the dining room. Favorite Places Around Town The Shack, The I.V., Jack's Gourmet Restaurant Tell me about your involvement with the chapter. I have been involved with the chapter since 2003 as a HCB member, HCB president, facilities advisor, and now food service director, where I work with the head cook and the house director to address any issues with the food, the mealtimes, and special occasions while watching ex- penses. I recommend volunteering with the chapter; it is so rewarding! What is your impression of the current chapter? The active chapter is so impressive! I don't know how they pack so much activity into their days while still maintain- ing their grades! The sisterhood remains the same, but the numbers have certainly grown. This is truly "sisterhood that lasts a lifetime." Sharon Williams Korte '65 Why did you choose Alpha Phi? To make lifelong friends and be a part of a sisterhood. I serve on the House Corporation Board as director of facility operations. I work closely with the house director to ensure daily operations run smoothly. What is your impression of the current chapter? Alpha Phi is one of the top sororities on campus and I am proud to be a part of its operations. The women are beautiful and seem to have a wonderful time. The chapter has grown tremendously over the years.
