Recipients did not know they were being selected until the moment they were announced. e sudden appearance at the awards dinner of Joe's wife, Donna, daugh- ters, Claudia and Maura, and brother, Michael Langella '84, were quite a surprise to Joe! e 56th Grand Chapter Conclave was one for the books for Connecticut Alpha, and our brothers returned to campus this fall with a deeper love and excitement for our frater- nity. Our chapter would like to thank all of the alumni donations, volunteer support, and headquarters staff efforts that went into making Conclave such a life-changing experience. Until Denver in 2021! Connecticut Alpha Volunteer Highlight: Lawrence Carboni '86 T his month's Volunteer Highlight focuses on Brother Lawrence Carboni '86 who has served as AVC treasurer since our return to campus in 2014. Lawrence graduated from UConn in 1986 with a BS in accounting and immediately began his career at Deloitte and Touche, earning his CPA in 1989. Larry then began an almost 24-year run starting in 1992 at McGladrey, LLP, later RSM US, LLP, where he rose to become partner. Currently, Larry is a partner at Whittlesey in Hartford, acting as financial institutions audit and accounting specialist with a focus on several community banks in Connecticut. He has a long history of community service. In addition to his current role as AVC treasurer and aer serving as alumni board controller in the late 1980s, Larry serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Southwest New England. Larry and his wife, Kathy, have been married for 25 years and have two daughters: Shannon, a recent PharmD graduate from UConn Pharmacy, and Lauren, who is currently entering her third year at Johnson and Wales in Providence, R.I. In their off time, Larry and Kathy can be found traveling, especially when there are music events and breweries to be found on their way. CT Alpha enjoying a post Buchanan Cup feast in Houston.
