Wednesday, June 9, 2010 – Daily News – 5A Commerce business Good news In challenging times, it is always good to hear a good report. Well, I have one for you today from my perspective at the chamber. There is a lot of activity on the part of many people here in Red Bluff and Tehama County, and it’s producing great results. The Job Training Center, Paint Mart, North Valley Services and Dale’s Carpet teamed up to renovate the interior of the Chamber office. Work outside of the building will follow. We will have a barbe- cue open house celebration later in the month. We will have more details on that at a later date. Volunteers are assisting in the office and at the Farmer’s Markets. Both of our markets, Saturday and Wednesday, are almost to capacity with vendors. This makes for a great time and wonderful selection of fruits, vegetables and items for our local folks and visitors. Our progressive officers and directors are active out in the com- munity to make the chamber the greatest promoter of business and events in the region. President Kristin Behrens wrote recently in this column about the four areas our board and chamber will be actively focusing on in the near future, to improve the cham- ber’s service to its membership and its mis- sions — branding, com- munication, mem- bership and cohe- sion of groups. Chambers of com- merce are member-based organiza- tions. The good news is our mem- bership is on the increase. Are you a member? If so, thank you. If you are not yet, we have many new rea- sons for you to join. Membership would be a benefit to you, your business or organiza- tion. In a future column I will let you know more about our new online chamber software that will have the capability to promote your business as well as community events. Before the end of June, our members will displayed on our & enterprise website and beyond; a greater value – without requiring members to even lift a finger. More members have recently accessed our adver- tising opportunities to inform the population more about their ser- vices. Through the efforts of our Red Bluff Rebound meetings over the last few months, led by Bill Moule, you will soon see a new local pro- motional campaign called Shop Red Bluff First. To many of us, summer is a time for fun in the sun. We have great events on the horizon; Crawdad Festival, Field to Fork, 4th of July Celebration and many activities at the Sacramento River Discovery Center. There’s plenty to do in our area this summer. If you would like to be more involved, contact us or check out our website, Facebook page or fol- low us on Twitter. Most important- ly be safe and have a great sum- mer. Dave Gowan is executive vice president of the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce. Health Services welcomes new doctor Anita Blosser, MD, a board certified family practice physician, joins the team of Jon Malan, DO and Max Hemping, PA as the newest member of the Tehama County Health Services Agency Clinic. Blosser pursued her undergraduate degree at Purdue University and the University of Kentucky. Her medical degree and residency training were done at University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Blosser had been a partner at Henderson Family Medicine Clinic in Henderson, NC, part of the Duke University Pri- mary Care Network, since 1994 before joining the clinic in Red Bluff in Jan- uary. “I enjoy small town life, and Red Bluff is a delightful community,” Blosser said. “It’s also great to practice where I can use all the skills in which I trained. Variety is what makes Family Medi- cine so stimulating. Even greater satisfaction comes from the relationships we develop with our patients over time. My colleagues here are solid practition- ers and wonderful collab- orators. I look forward to going to work each day.” The agency is excited to welcome Blosser as a Blosser member of its integrated delivery of health services to the community. “Dr. Blosser will be a great addition to the clinic and the community,” said Yolanda Mordue, clinic director. “She is another step in our continued goal of providing quality med- ical care to all members of our community, espe- cially those facing barri- ers to accessing care.” Blosser enjoys being closer to her daughter, son-in-law and two grand daughters, Paloma and Carmen, who reside in California. She enjoys traveling, playing with her dogs, music, needle- work and painting in oils. Blosser is now accept- ing new patients. To make an appointment, call 527- 0350.
