Maybe the family is gathering.
Whatever the case, everyone's likely to have a
better time if you have some tasty appetizers for
people to nosh on.
Here are some suggestions.
Mini Burgers
with the Works

Total time: 30 minutes
Makes: 1 dozen
INGREDIENTS
¼ pound ground beef
3 slices processed American
cheese
4 slices white bread (loaf heels
recommended)
2 T. ousand Island salad
dressing
2 pearl onions, thinly sliced
4 baby dill pickles, thinly sliced
3 cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced
DIRECTIONS
Shape beef into 12 one-inch patties. Place on a microwave-safe plate lined with
paper towels. Cover with another paper towel; microwave on high for 1 minute
until meat is no longer pink. Cut each slice of cheese into fourths; set aside.
Using a one-inch round cookie cutter, cut out six circles from each slice of
bread. Spread half of the bread circles with dressing. Layer with burgers, cheese,
onions, pickles and tomatoes. Top with remaining bread circles; secure with
tookpicks. Serve.

Cheese Ball

INGREDIENTS
8 ounces cream cheese
4 ounces grated white cheddar cheese
2 ounces mascarpone
½ cup pumpkin puree
1½ T. chopped sage, plus more for
rolling
1 T. chopped rosemary, plus more for
rolling
Salt and pepper
½ cup pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
DIRECTIONS
Combine the cheeses and pumpkin
puree in a stand mixer fitted with the
paddle attachment. Mix on medium
speed until well combined. Add the
herbs, salt and pepper and mix again
until combined.
