"We're having a lot of fun putting it together," Teasley said, "and it will be a lot of fun to be there." e rest of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra's upcoming concert season is as follows: • Nov. 14: "Copland in Paris," a 1920s sort of jazz approach to the music, to be presented at St. John's Episcopal Church, downtown at 302 Green St. • Dec. 7: "Deck the Halls," standard holiday performance, held at Seabrook Auditorium on campus of Fayetteville State University. • Jan. 16: "If It Ain't Baroque," featuring such famous pieces of the Baroque era as Pachelbel's Canon in D, at St. John's Episcopal Church. • Feb. 8: "Music She Wrote," featuring selections written by all-female composers, including Florence Price, who was the first African-American female to be recognized as a symphonic composer and have her work published and played by a major orchestra, at Seabrook Auditorium • March 7: "In eir Footsteps," the Youth Orchestra will perform a song or two with the symphony's professional musicians, at Huff Concert Hall at Methodist University • April 4: "Musical Folktales," a selection of classical folk music with principal cellist Nate Leyland featured on Dvorak's Cello Concerto, at Huff Concert Hall at Methodist University Nearly every program will begin at 6:45 p.m. with a pre-concert talk with the Fayetteville Symphony's so-called "Music Nerd." Providing insights to the featured selections will only enhance the performance for the more casual concert-goer. At 11 a.m. on Nov. 2, the orchestra will stage "Story Time at the Symphony," a free public concert for families at the Fayetteville Academy gymnasium. e program will include selections from "Frozen," "e Incredibles," "Peter and the Wolf " and "e Tortoise and the Hare." And while some might think playing musical selections from a couple of Disney movie blockbusters may be beneath these professional musicians, Teasley said she's found that not to be the case at all. "ey devote their life to music. ey play and enjoy all music. All kinds of music," she said, even though the classic symphony is probably their number one choice. ey get so turned on by seeing audiences enjoy music and get engaged in music. ey don't feel like a particular genre is beneath them. "I see them with the little kids during 'Story Time.' It's really easy music," she added. "But they are enthusiastic and engaged, and it's amazing. I can see by the looks on their faces that they really have passion for the music."
