4 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA Groundbreaking at 3000 University: (Continued from page 1) Many Hands Make Light Work Delta Nu Campaign Announces $3.1 Million Goal D elta Nu has accomplished a great deal over the last year. Last fall, we had $2.25 million pledged from 50 donors. As of today, we have $2,819,094 pledged from 166 donors who are committed to building the chapter house for fall 2020 occupancy. Because of the high amount of success and participation we have already seen in the campaign, the board has increased the goal from $3 million to $3.1 million to cover increased construction costs and to include a front patio. e Return to 3000 University is now reality. A huge thanks to all who have contributed. However, we still have a financial gap to fill prior to August 2020 to build debt-free, as is required by our lead donor. Building without debt will ensure sufficient funds to properly maintain 3000 University as the premier house for decades to follow. So far, 20% of our alumni have contributed, which, as we Norwegians say, "is not bad," but we need a greater percentage of alumni support to reach our $3.1 million goal. In addition to the obvious financial support it will provide, these donations demonstrate a positive message to the undergraduate chapter that their predecessors believe that their ATW experience was priceless and is worth their effort to pass it forward to a new generation. We always strived for the best, and much of the time we were the best, and that is what will be expected of them as ATWs. How can you help? Look at the current list of contributors. If your name is already on the list, thank you. Consider calling a brother whose name is missing from our donor list and share why you chose to donate. To those who have not yet donated, please reconsider. is project is happening, and you are invited to be a part of this exciting time to be an ATW. Keep in mind, pledges can be paid over a period up to five years and can be paid via credit card by visiting http://bit.ly/ATOUND. ere are also many opportunities to participate in memorial gis, including the Vietnam Veterans in honor of Ernie Bartolina '62, Todd Foss '73, Jamie Grant '91, Toby Shotwell '76, and Nathan Beiswenger '99. Aer a relaxing summer, we are reinvigorating the campaign and will provide regular updates. ere are number of alumni who have agreed to recommence personal contact with you and when they call, please do them the courtesy of at least hearing them out. It has always been our experience that something in that call will refresh your memory of the many things that made being an ATW a great experience. e opportunity to pass this experience on to a new group of ATWs only happens once in a lifetime, and now is the time to climb on board. Love and Respect, Tom Clairmont '61 Public Phase Campaign Co-Chairman (612) 387-6662 / tclairmont@usfamily.net Matt Honea '94 Public Phase Campaign Co-Chairman (202) 329-2113 / mwhonea@yahoo.com attended the event and lauded Delta Nu's alumni for ensuring ATW's presence at UND. "As is always the case, brotherhood is all about making friends, but it also doesn't hurt in recruiting to say, 'Hey, you can live in this beautiful house,' so the chapter house becomes even more important when someone is initiated in the chapter and they have a place to live." e fundraising and building stages will phase into a permanent practice of alumni leadership, oversight, and mentoring. e purpose will be to recruit the best and mold today's young men into responsible, respectful, and well-rounded individuals of tomorrow. Associate Dean of Students Cassie Gerhardt characterized the new house as a living-learning environment that will be be as important to students' personal growth and development as a classroom. "It provides the space students need to develop and grow, not only as individuals but as organizations seeking to support other students and enhance students' UND experiences."
