6 Think Back. Think Big. Think Beta. T he Gamma Lambda Chapter continues its legacy of excellent performance. We remain amongst the best in academics, campus leadership, new member recruitment, and in shows. Our membership is extraordinarily grateful for the leadership and guidance provided by our advisors. We would like to thank Chase Colvin '14 for his continual efforts as chapter counselor and dedication to the Gamma Lambda Chapter. CHAPTER ACHIEVES SECOND HIGHEST GPA The brothers of our chapter continue to strive for academic excellence and achieved a GPA of 3.46 with 155 men in the average. An astounding 40 men earned a 4.0, landing them on the President's List, and another 88 brothers were placed on the Dean's List. Once again, Gamma Lambda far outperformed the IFC GPA of 3.17 and the all-men's average of 2.9. SUMMER 2019 RECRUITMENT Led by Rush Chairman Will Branstetter '21, the rush team recruited 48 promising new young men this summer. Their pledge educator, Gray Strickland '21, has already seen great leadership qualities and a genuine desire to become men of principle. They are men of character, good humor, and musical talent. We are excited about their potential as young men and as brothers. A WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST BROTHERS Last spring, we welcomed eight newly initiated brothers of outstanding caliber. They achieved a accumulative 3.55 GPA. They were ranked first among all fraternity spring pledge classes. Most importantly, they continue to uphold the reputation of being men of principle our chapter has worked to achieve. We are proud to call these newly initiates brothers! UPON THE GREEK STAGE This year's Freshman Follies cast is lead by a promising team of young directors paired with the women of Kappa Alpha Theta. We placed second in Spring Sing last spring and were also awarded most comical. INTRAMURALS Our chapter has a legacy of excellence in athletics. We took home first in intramurals again last spring. This marks the 13th year of the past 14 that this award has been ours. This year we are excited to be paired with the women of Zeta Tau Alpha in intramurals. Our chapter also won the overall basketball intramural championship last spring in a showdown against Sigma Nu. BROTHERS PURSUE DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP TRAINING Our chapter sent several young leaders to the John and Nelle Wooden Institute in Oxford to gain necessary leadership training and an advanced knowledge of Beta history. I represented Gamma Lambda at the 2019 Beta General Convention located in Oxford, Ohio, in August. During my time at convention, I met many brothers from all over the United States and Canada. Gamma Lambda received the John Holt Duncan Community Service Award. The Duncan Service awards are presented to chapters that best exemplify, through their hands-on service and philanthropy, the commitment of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity to our members, our campuses, our communities and the world. THANK YOU, LOYAL ALUMNI On behalf of the Gamma Lambda Chapter, I would like to extend our gratitude to you, as alumni, for your continued support. We have you to thank for the ability to thrive here in Stillwater. When you find yourself in town know that you are always welcome to stop by and I encourage you to do so. Our door is always open to visiting alumni.
