Fall 2019 PHI SIGMA KAPPA FRATERNITY AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY Phi Sig Express Check Out the Updated House during Homecoming on October 12 B rothers, we are gearing up for a great fall semester at the Delta Triton chapter house this fall with many improvements made to the house. Keep reading the newsletter to learn more about chapter house improvements and for more save the date information regarding Homecoming. We hope to see all of you there! Introducing New Resident House Supervisor Welcome to our new resident house supervisor, Alice Demming, who joins Delta Triton chapter after two years in a similar sorority position at Ohio State. We're excited to have Alice on board to manage chapter house activities and coordinate alumni communications. She will be working on an August-May contract and will be living in the chapter house year-round. This is a new experience for our alumni board and the undergraduate chapter, but we believe it will be a positive step to protect our investment, assist with recruitment and retention, and relieves the chapter from administrative details that are a distraction to education. Summer House Repairs Complete Dave Franzman '80 has been hard at work supervising completion of the basement chapter room, summer maintenance activities, and construction closure on punch list items. Major summer work includes a new Waldron Street sidewalk and curb, painting hallways and some rooms, contractor completion and certification of the HVAC system, parking lot striping, and replacing the landscaping that did not survive. We're looking good and once again we'll be the premier Greek housing opportunity on campus. Join Us for the Annual Meeting Why is it important you attend our annual meeting at Homecoming? Your understanding of our alumni activities and suggestions for the future is key to making Delta Triton and Phi Sigma Kappa successful at Purdue. We've had a long three years of construction, finances, and filling the chapter house. With that abating we can focus on future success, scholarship, mentoring, and networking opportunities for our chapter building on a great Phi Sig tradition at Purdue. We've seen success this year with alumni returning to the chapter house to share experiences and offer employment advice. What do you have to share that can help a Phi Sig? Let us know at Homecoming this year. Fraternally, John Lendrum '80 Alumni Board President jlendrum@nciprecast.com A fter considering several different fraternities on Purdue's campus, Kevin Chase '01 was drawn to the culture and quality of the active brothers he found at Delta Triton. "There was an authenticity and purpose that was missing from other fraternities on campus. During my years on campus, I developed close relationships with many brothers and I can't imagine spending that time any other way." When looking back on his time at Delta Triton, Kevin fondly recalls barn dances, which he still has some swag from, and spring Friday afternoons spent on the front porch. He was proud to serve as Delta Triton's secretary and president because of the chapter's community outreach and ethics. "It felt great to be a part of an organization that contributed to the community via philanthropy, as well as being a part of something that was larger than myself," he shared, "We strongly valued and continue to value character of potential pledges and actives which leads to a strong sense of ethics and integrity." Reflecting on the Brotherhood Why Kevin Chase '01 Is Proud of Delta Triton's Enduring Values (Continued on page 2)
