In hoc, Marc Pinto '21 Tribune pintom2@rpi.edu I t is hard for me to believe that June 13, 2019, marked 50 years since I graduated from RPI. As I look back on my college years, there were only a few professors I remember and only a few hockey games I recall, but most of my memories are of the brothers of Sigma Chi. Some older who mentored me, some younger whom I tried to coach along, and my own pledge class of just nine brothers, with whom I spent the most time. As my life played out, circumstances made Sigma Chi particularly influential for me. We pledged in the spring of freshman year; there was not much time aer initiation before finals, then we all went home for the summer. My father died unexpectedly that summer. When I returned to school in the fall, my fraternity brothers were my real family and support group, which continued through graduation three years later. ose circumstances led me to grow up more quickly than most and were likely the reason I was elected Pro Consul my junior year and Consul my senior year. Obviously, those positions heavily increased my involvement in the fraternity. During the winter break of my junior year, I went up to New Hampshire to ski with Jack Belletete '71, one of my two Little Brothers. He brought his hometown girlfriend with him and invited his little sister to ski along with me. ough that may not sound like an ideal arrangement, we hit it off well, got pinned, later married, and now live about a mile from Jack. We both live on the same lake and frequently travel between our houses by boat. I doubt there are few brothers who married their Little Brother's little sister. Professionally, I spent 38 years in various positions creating Electronic Countermea- sures systems. I was hired into that company by a brother two years ahead of me, and for a while I worked for and shared an office with another brother a year behind me. I later hired another brother, three years behind me. en, my son became a Sigma Chi at Colgate and I participated in his initiation. at makes my son one of my brothers in the lifelong association of Sigs. So, Sigma Chi has touched virtually all aspects of my life, and every time it has it has been a positive outcome and influence for me. I am, obviously, proud to be a Sig.
