Elementary Education Camilla Soriano '19 Palatine, Ill. Psychology M u Chapter started off the spring semester with informal recruitment led by VP Recruitment Amanda Shane '17. We are excited to welcome four new women into our sisterhood! Our bid day was on Sunday, February 3, with a candy theme planned and set up by VP New Member Educator Grace Godby '17. The new members completed their new member process on Thursday, March 28, with the initiation ceremony. On March 27, Mu Chapter held our spring semester philanthropy dinner, planned by VP Philanthropy Jessica Salmi '17. In addition to our philanthropy dinner, our philanthropy event, "The AEPhi Games," was held on March 31. So far, we have raised $4,240 from these two events to benefit our national philanthropy, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF). On Tuesday, March 5, the University of Illinois Fraternity and Sorority Affairs office held their annual Greek Oscars, a night where all the fraternities and sororities come together to celebrate the achievements of their peers. This year two of our sisters won individual awards. Ariel Shilitz '15, past Mu Chapter and Panhellenic president, won the Beth Dohme Wallin Award for dedicated spirit and commitment to the Greek community, and Dorothy Christoforou '16, past Mu Chapter Panhellenic delegate, won the Victoria Lynn Merkel Award for outstanding service on Panhellenic committees. Mu Chapter is excited for our centennial next year, May 2-3, 2020. Planning has already begun, and we are eager to welcome Mu Chapter alumnae back to campus to celebrate this very special occasion!
