PRESIDENT Margaret Anne Beech Alias '98 TREASURER Caroline Austin Rosser '77 MEMBERS AT LARGE Whitney Jones Byars, University of Georgia '85 Amy Russell Scruggs '94 Whitney Alexander Bolen '98 ALPHA MU HOUSE CORPORATION Alpha Mu News Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Mississippi | Spring 2019 W e all graduate with high hopes of keeping our Kappa Delta sis- terhood close to our hearts. Unfortunately, we quickly find that many new interests—careers, families, and civic activities—can create valid diversions. Before long, we fall out of touch and begin to wonder what happened to our sisters. Without a solid alumnae relations program in place, our sisters lack the means for staying connected to the sorority. With this in mind, our new annual alumnae relations program is de- signed to help our members stay in touch and to cultivate awareness and involvement in Alpha Mu. ere are several elements that are key to the program's success. e House Corporation will mail two newsletters each year containing alumnae news, information on upcoming events, reports on various Chap- ter activities, and current lists of undergraduate and alumnae. Once a year, we will send out a biographical update that allows alumnae to update the information we have on record. Altogether, the updates are a vital tool in maintaining our records and our ties with one another. ese mailings will help sisters keep in touch and share what's going on in Oxford. You are an important part of the Alpha Mu Chapter, even years lat- er. We cherish those who share our love of Kappa Delta and our sisterhood. The Beginning of a New Era at Alpha Mu S unday, April 28, marked the beginning of a new era of Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta at Ole Miss. With numerous sisters and guests in atten- dance, the celebration was a beautiful farewell to the house at 84 Sorority Circle all of us once called home. e new Chapter House will elevate Alpha Mu on the University of Mississippi campus. e next time you are in Oxford, take a few minutes to drive through campus and view the Greek housing. Our Kappa Delta home in Oxford is nearly 90 years old and is showing its age—especially compared to many other sorority houses on campus. Alpha Mu Launches New Alumnae Relations Program Reconnect with Kappa Delta Today e new Chapter House will allow more members to live in the house while they are at Ole Miss. Currently, we cannot accommodate our 400+ members in our chapter room and we are unable to host Initiation in the house. Also, our members are unable to dine together and our home isn't handicap accessible. Did you know Alpha Phi and Alpha Delta Pi built new homes? Tri Delta and Delta Gamma both renovated and expanded their homes to accommodate more mem- bers. Chi Omega and Phi Mu completed renovation projects as well. All of these impressive housing projects have taken place in the last five years. Although we know our sisterhood is much more than our brick and mortar Chapter House, it's important for recruitment that we provide competitive housing. A group of sisters 90 years ago built our house at 84 Sorority Circle. at house provided us with a home away from home for nearly a century, a place where Kappa Deltas learned our mission and lived by example in the Ole Miss com- munity. We are so excited to see our legacy grow in Oxford with a new home in 2020. Follow our building progress on our House Corporation Facebook page, "KD Alpha Mu - Building on a Tradition of Excellence."
