studying business, social sciences, and humanities. This provides an excellent asset
to recruit new members. Prospective brothers studying just about anything will
not only fit in but have a support system of older brothers who can help
them in their studies.
Additionally, Mu Chapter has instilled new programs to help
brothers with academics. For those who missed the mark in a cer-
tain quarter or feel that they are struggling, a program has been
developed to assist their studies.
The brothers of Mu Chapter had an incredible 35+ members on
the autumn 2018 Dean's List. Considering this was over a third
of the house, it is truly an achievement. Here is a spotlight on a
number of academic superstars in the Chapter:
• Brother Griffin Paulson '15 continues to shine as a double
major in computer science and business. In both of these
challenging academic programs, he has maintained a
near perfect 3.97 grade point average. In the sum-
mer of 2018, he held an internship with Amazon
and received a return offer.
• Brother Hendrik Ufkes '15 has been
spending his winter quarter interning
with Biome International Solutions
using his environmental engineer-
ing skills to work on rainwater
harvesting in government schools
and groundwater recharge in the city
of Bangalore, India.
• Lukas Garcia '17 is currently taking
a quarter off from school to lobby in
Olympia for the Associated Students
of the University of Washington.
• Sophomore brother Paari Gopal
'18 is excelling in computer science,
with a 3.83 grade point average.
During spring quarter 2019, he held
an internship at Lob in San Francis-
co. Paari hopes to start his career as a
software engineer and work his way
toward a management role at a tech
company… ambitious stuff!
• Lastly, sophomore brother Verli
Chen '18 will be interning this up-
coming summer with Google in New
York as a user interface designer.
