40 | July/August 2019 T he golden rule in construction is to build for customers like you build for yourself. e late Clayton Britt of Fayetteville believed in this adage and passed it on to his sons when he first started laying concrete and building swimming pools in 1969. Fast forward 50 years, the wisdom instilled by the senior Britt in his sons continues today to define the family business that bears his name, Spa and Pool World by Clayton Britt & Sons, Inc. Brothers Ricky and John Britt grew up in the family business and fondly remember their father telling them "to do it just like you would at your own house" when it came time to build a pool or install a hot tub for a customer. is quality-driven approach, along with a commitment to honesty, integrity, open communication and customer service, is what the two present-day owners believe is the secret to their longevity and success in the pool and spa market. Reflecting on the 50th anniversary of the business, being celebrated this year, Ricky Britt said their personal involvement also makes Spa and Pool World stand out. "We are a real hands-on boutique kind of company even though we do both big and small jobs," he said. "We watch every detail of every job and either John or I are going to be at the construction site. We consider ourselves the go-to suppliers in the area for custom-built in-ground pools." General contractor Hector Ray, co-owner of RayWest Design Build of Fayetteville, agrees. If you build it, they will stay… BY CRISSY NEVILLE | PHOTOGRAPHY BY MATTHEW WONDERLY B U S I N E S S Brothers Ricky and John Britt
