The Handelsmans feel like they are hosting a party every night there is a home game, and they want to make the SwampDogs loyal fans feel welcome and comfortable. After five years of fun and exciting SwampDogs baseball at “The Swamp,” it’s safe to say the Handelsman’s and the SwampDogs staff have been more than satisfactory hosts. SwampDog games are always fun for the crowd. “Every night we have a home game, we feel like we are inviting the fans into our home,” said Darrell. “We want their experience to be a positive and rewarding one.” In the 2009 season, the SwampDogs “home” was packed nearly every night. “The Swamp” averaged 2,223 fans per night, ranking the SwampDogs fourth nationally among all college summer collegiate leagues. When SwampDogs fans enter “The Swamp” this season for one of the SwampDogs 31 “house parties,” they should like what they see. The SwampDogs have countless promotions each and every night, while also giving out many free party favors along the way. They also have a unique goal in mind. They are striv- ing to become the cleanest ballpark in all of America, once again showing their strong commitment to excellence both on and off the field. “We continue to look to improve the fan experience and believe by commit- ting to become the cleanest entertainment business in America we can fulfill that ambitious goal,” Lew said. When the Handelsmans say they want to have the cleanest ballpark in America, they include every level, from the Majors and Minors all the way down. According to Lew, fans can help the SwampDogs become the cleanest ballpark in America. “We ask the fans to help keep the stands as clean as possible by putting trash in receptacles as appropriate. We think they (fans) will appreciate what we are doing and be proud of the results.” While the goal may seem out of reach at first glance, the SwampDogs believe it can be met with a joint effort from the SwampDogs staff and the great fans. “This is a lofty goal, but with our dedicated staff and the help of our great fans, we feel like we can achieve this,” Darrell added. The SwampDogs hope the cleanest ballpark in America goal will help them become the best party host in America as well.
