delta-sig.org Alpha Eta Makes an Impact By: Shane Meek '17 Community service is a cornerstone of the Delta Sigma Phi mission statement. By giving back to the community, brothers not only help others but grow themselves. It is for this reason that brothers participated in a variety of community service opportunities throughout the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. Some of the main events included renovating St. Patrick Church in Marysville, Night to Shine, highway cleanup, and volunteering for Ada High School's baseball team. e St. Patrick Church renovation provided the brothers a chance to make an impact on a place near and dear to one of our own. Night to Shine is an annual event where brothers to get dressed up in their finest outfits to accompany those in the special needs' community to their prom night, where they dance the night away, take silly photo booth pictures, or get down to some karaoke. e highway cleanup, as well as concessions/announcing for baseball, were both great ways of getting brothers involved in the community. e list above is not inclusive as there are plenty of other ways smaller groups of brothers get involved in their respective communities and around Ada. ONU's annual LOVE Day and Klondike's Crew get brothers engaged in meeting other students and push brothers to step outside of their comfort zones. Other events include blood drives, helping at soup kitchens/shelters, and many more. Community service will continue to be a focal point of the fraternity and something that each brother thoroughly enjoys. Polar Plunge By: Joshua Pettay '17 Polar Plunge was a huge success this year. is philanthropy event has always been one of our biggest achievements each year as we get to spend time with each other, broaden our horizon on campus, and raise money for our national philanthropy, the American Red Cross. is year, with the addition of a new game to sponsor brothers called "Jump-O," we raised $500 alone. We made another $500 on t-shirts and other donations to net over $1,000 raised. It was a fantastic gathering of brothers and other students on campus, which allowed us to spread our cause beyond the limits of our brotherhood. We plan to expand on this event as it is fundamental to our philanthropic success. Pyramid Society ($1,000+) Joshua E. Brass '98 Kevin Neidig '78 Richard L.
