effort, many alumnae believe others will give because they recognize the need for the
project, had a positive experienced, are loyal to Pi Phi, and have benefited from their
membership. A 2000s alumna said, "It is a compelling story. If alumnae know what is
going on and see the other houses evolving, they will see it is important to give back." In
a capital campaign, it will be important to build alumnae confidence by showing a list of
donors of who have contributed to the housing project.
When asked if they believe $3 million is a realistic fundraising goal, 27% of alumnae
responded "Yes," 70% said "Maybe," and 3% said "No." Of those who responded
"Maybe," a majority felt they did not have enough knowledge to know if the alumnae base
is capable of such a large goal. Having a realistic goal is important to a capital campaign
as alumnae want to support a campaign that will be successful.
Eighty-six percent of alumnae said "Yes," now is the appropriate time to move forward
with a major fundraising effort. Alumnae recognize the urgency to expand the house to
accommodate the growing membership and remain competitive among other sororities on
campus. A 2010s alumna said, "This project is instrumental. The chapter will decline if we
do not do this now." This positive affirmation is encouraging that alumnae support a capital
campaign moving forward.
Without making a commitment, alumnae were asked to provide an estimate they would
consider in a capital campaign. The following estimates were provided:
$110, 000 to $265,000 (one alumna)
$50,000 to $100,000 (one alumna)
$25,000 to $50,000 (one alumna)
$10,000 to $50,000 (one alumna)
$25,000 (two alumnae)
$15,000 to $25,000 (one alumna)
$5,000 to $25,000 (one alumna)
$15,000 (one alumna)
