this fall alumnae are welcomed back to attend an alumnae brunch at the chapter
house during an Ole Miss home game weekend. In addition, alumnae can join
alumnae clubs in metropolitan areas, such as Dallas, Houston, Nashville, and
Memphis. Each alumnae club hosts monthly meetings, social outings, and
networking events to enhance the alumna experience.
A proper alumnae relations program should include a written calendar of alumnae
"friendraising" events; university social and athletic activities are possible
additions to fraternity events. Events held in areas with high alumnae
concentrations such as Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Jackson, Memphis, Nashville, and
Oxford are also recommended. Each event should be properly announced in
newsletters and online, with personal invitations sent to alumnae, previous
attendees, and distinguished guests six to eight weeks prior to the events. Quality
photos should be taken at all events and used for event recap articles for newsletters.
Guest lists should also be kept at each event, and all alumnae should be given the
opportunity to verify or update their address, phone, and email.
Overall, a comprehensive alumnae relations program is essential to the strength and
success of an organization. Every alumna is constantly receiving messaging from
organizations requesting her time and resources. Other organizations provide
professional and well-designed publications to distribute to their contingencies.
Mississippi Beta alumnae request the same level of service and Pennington &
Company can provide that level of service through a newsletter program and
biographical update. The Mississippi Beta Chapter needs to remain top of mind and
alumnae need to be knowledgeable about and feel connected to the chapter to
increase their interest in and support of a possible capital campaign. Elevating
Mississippi Beta's alumnae relations program can help strengthen the success of
future fundraising efforts.
