c. To establish the basic principle of sequential fundraising and to
outline the campaign solicitation phases;
d. To establish a campaign organizational structure, outline the duties
and responsibilities of the campaign leadership; and,
e. To establish a timetable for key tasks required for a successful
campaign.
6. Decide on campaign policies. For example, a policy on what gifts to count,
a policy on recognizing deferred gifts, and a method for recording in-kind
gifts.
7. Write the basic solicitation proposal to be tailored and adapted for each
prospect.
8. Carry out the quiet phase solicitation of campaign leadership and top gift
prospects, after which the campaign dollar goal will be determined; all
subsequent decisions will be based on the results of the initial phase.
9. Establish a donor recognition plan.
10. Build a campaign calendar with specific target dates for completing each
task.
11. Continue to refine the list of prospective contributors.
