Alumnae were then asked if they believe Mississippi Beta should move forward
with a capital campaign. As shown in Chart F, 86% stated "Yes" and 14% said
"Maybe." This is an average response compared to other Pennington & Company
studies and indicates alumnae feel strongly that the house corporation should move
forward into a capital campaign.
Most interviewees agree that now is the appropriate time to move forward with a
major fundraising effort. Alumnae recognize the urgency to expand the house to
accommodate the growing membership and remain competitive among other
sororities on campus. A 2010s alumna said, "This project is instrumental. The
chapter will decline if we do not do this now." Others are excited for the chance to
give back to their local chapter. A 1970s alumna said, "The strongest factor is that
we have never had a capital campaign, so there should be a lot of support and
enthusiasm for this one."
This positive affirmation is encouraging that alumnae support a capital campaign
moving forward. Alumnae understand the need for the project and why it is
important for the chapter to remain competitive at Ole Miss. Alumnae also
recognize this unique opportunity to pay it forward and give back to the Mississippi
