ALPHA GAMMA DELTA UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested PRSRT STD U.S. POSTAGE PAID LAWRENCE, KS PERMIT #570 The Squirrel's Nest E ach year The University of Alabama National Alumni Association selects an outstanding female and male Alumni Student Award winner as well as an additional 10 students selected to receive Alumni Student Senior Awards. Two of our graduating seniors were selected and are so deserving. Alyssa Barefield '15, a native of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, will graduate in May with a pre- med/psychology major. She plans to follow in her mother's footsteps by going into psychiatry. Alyssa has served as the U of A Honors College Ambassadors president and is a four-year participant in the Honors College University Fellows Experience. She was selected to both the Blackburn Institute and the Elliot Society in 2017. Her scholarships include the Presidential Scholar, the Julia and Arnold Teks Endowed Scholarship, and the Black Faculty and Staff Association Black Scholar. She is a member of the Order of Omega, which is a leadership honorary for members of fraternities and sororities, and was selected as their outstanding sophomore. In our chapter, she served so dutifully as VP of scholarship, resulting in the chapter tying for number one in overall GPA this year. She is a member of several honoraries, but perhaps the most impressive is the all-women's senior honorary XXXI of which she was elected president. With impressive health- related outreach programs and stellar grades, we know big things are in store for her. A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jessica Proctor '14 was also selected as a 2019 Alumni Student Senior. Not only is she an outstanding 4.0 GPA student, but she also served the State of Alabama as Miss Alabama 2017. In that capacity, she traveled the entire state speaking at over 50 events. Her platform for the Miss America Pageant was "Step Up to the Plate" for decreasing food insecurity. While at Miss America 2018, she placed in the top seven and won the Jean Bartel Quality of Life Award for Outstanding Community Service. At The University of Alabama, she served as the Fifth Quarter chairman where food is collected and redistributed after Alabama's football and basketball games as well as gymnastics meets. She served ΑΓΔ as our philanthropy chairman and due to her work, brought the Fifth Quarter and hunger awareness to the attention of other schools and the International offices of ΑΓΔ, leading them to adopt her cause as the new official philanthropy of the entire International Sorority. Jessica is actively involved in the Church of the Highlands as a 252 College Intern and a College Girls Small Group Leader. She works as a personal trainer and has developed a brand, website, and is the content creator for healthandwelljess.com. Jessica is recently engaged with plans to marry this year.
