Redding art exhibit The city of Redding would like to invite the public to view artwork on display at City Hall and the Redding Library as part of Art in the Citys Winter 2013 exhibit. At the Redding Library, pastel work by Sandy Tincher is on display. At City Hall, there are photographs by Dennis Halkides, Michele James and Heidi K. Miller along with sculpture by Jay Murphy and painting and multi-media work by James Phillips. City Hall has two very unique exhibits including a portion of the Brave Faces Portrait Gallery provided by Shasta County Health and Human Services. The River of Quilts, a visual depiction of the Sacramento River from the headwaters in Siskiyou County through Shasta County and into Tehama County, created by the Quilters Sew-ciety of Redding, Inc. is on display through March 11. After March 11, the River of Quilts display will be removed and replaced by a variety of quilts created by guild members. City Hall is located at 777 Cypress Ave. and the Redding Library is at 1100 Parkview Ave. Local production of Love List dinner comedy Dinner theater returns to Tehama County with the northstate premiere of "The Love List," an outrageous stage comedy about love and the ideal mate, opening at the Hampton Inn on March 15. The event will begin with delicious full meals provided by Red Bluff's own Tremont Cafe and Creamery (now under new ownership) and culminate in two hours of comedy dessert. Produced by the Acme Dinner Theater, the play is written by Norm Foster, dubbed "the Neil Simon of Canada," the single-most produced playwright in the Great White North. The plot revolves around Bill, played by J.D. Ligier of Redding, who is reluctantly celebrating his 40th birthday. Bill has been alone since his wife left him seven years ago, so his best friend Leon, played by Lance Fox of Redding, takes him out to dinner and presents him an unusual birthday gift in the form of a membership to a new matchmaking service. All Bill has to do is create a "love list" of the top 10 qualities he desires in an ideal mate. A skeptical Bill plays along and the two spend the hilarious first act debating the specific qualities that would make up the perfect woman, and their exact arrangement on the list. Early the next morning, Bill is awakened by a knock at his door and opens it to find Justine, played by Nichole Hermance of Chico, who, we quickly learn, knows everything about him and perfectly embodies every quality on his list. The men soon discover, however, that whenever they alter an item on the list, Justine changes accordingly, and the laughs only build as they realize they have created a modern-day Frankenstein in this knee-slapping comedy which reminds us all to be careful what you wish for. The Tremont Caf will offer a savory Vegetable Beef Soup to whet the appetite, and follow that with a choice of its popular Seasoned Grilled Chicken Breasts, or choice Angus Beef Rib Eye Steak, along with plump baked potatoes, steamed veggies and dinner rolls, followed by dessert. Patrons are asked to indicate their main course preference when purchasing their tickets, so the correct number of meals can be anticipated. For this reason, ticket sales for a given night will end exactly 24 hours in advance of the dinner. A very limited number of tickets will be available at the door, but advanced purchase or reservations are always a good idea. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. and the performance will commence at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36 and now available online at www.acmeproductions.info, will soon be on sale at Wild Oak, 328 Oak St., in Red Bluff and include both the full meal and performance. Information about the production, and reservations are available at (530) 727-8080.
