A : We're assuming you mean the newly ordered stories, since Netflix already has made available the two seasons of the drama series that aired on ABC. The 10-ep- isode Season 3 premieres June 7, with President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) running for re-election after having been thrust into the office by the death of his predecessor (and most of the other Cabinet members) in a terrorist attack. Italia Ricci, Adan Canto, Maggie Q and Kal Penn also are back in the cast, with "ER" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" veteran Neal Baer the latest to join the show in an executive-producer capacity. Q : Someone told me that Shemar Moore credits the late Kristoff St. John with getting him into acting. Is that true? — Monique Ad- ams, via e-mail A : On a recent episode of CBS' "The Talk," on which several fellow veterans of "The Young and the Restless" paid tribute to the late St. John, Moore related the story of how he had been one of those to audition for the role of Malcolm Winters 25 years ago. Since that character was the brother of St. John's character Neil, the latter actor met with Moore at that time. Per Moore, when executive producer William Bell asked later for St. John's opinion of those who had come in to try out, St. John acknowledged that Moore appeared inexpe- rienced and nervous — but added his belief that Moore had a certain something and would rise to the occasion. The rest is daytime-TV history, and current "S.W.A.T." star Moore said on "The Talk" that he "wouldn't have this career" if not for St. John. Q : Why was "The Amaz- ing Race" off the air for so long? — Cara Anderson, Grand Junction, Colo. A : It likely owed to CBS having room on the schedule for it, which also was the situation that saw the show start at midseason or late in the television year for its previous three rounds. As it happens, the contest re- turned earlier than expected for its current edition. It was set to begin in May, but "Million Dollar Mile" didn't work out quite the way the network had hoped ratings-wise, so the Phil Ke- oghan-hosted "Race" — an Emmy winner for outstanding reality-competition program 10 times — was called back into action sooner and got an April premiere.
