3 SIGMA CHI T he Epsilon Kappa Chapter has been taking continued strides toward excellence this year. The young members have continued to display consistency in academics, service in the community, and the building of diligent, ca- pable men. Our members have done an incred- ible job at taking the culmination of our success- es and trials that came in the previous year and using those experiences to sharpen leadership skills and strengthen brotherhood. The fall 2018 semester brought both great times and opportunities for Epsilon Kappa. We initi- ated a strong pledge class of 31 new brothers and have since been committed to building them into strong, future leaders. Our brothers had another phenomenal Derby Days week, where we held a series of events raising over $22,000 for Special Olympics Greater Memphis. Once again, Epsi- lon Kappa finished the semester well ahead of both the university average GPA and the IFC av- erage. Our brothers finished the fall 2018 semes- ter with a 3.11 Chapter GPA, which we had the privilege to celebrate at our Chapter's semesterly scholarship banquet. Epsilon Kappa put significant effort into tran- sitioning our new Chapter leadership into the spring semester with a retreat where both the Ex- ecutive Board and secondary officers were able to express goals and visions for their positions and receive feedback on them. This has allowed for increased accountability in leadership in all aspects of Chapter operations. We have worked closely with our alumni and House Corporation to undergo and complete a renovation of our house to address the wear and tear that has accu- mulated since the most recent renovation in 2015. On February 2, Epsilon Kappa and the Univer- sity of Memphis hosted the Kentucky/Tennessee Lakes Province workshop where four chapters in our region convened and participated in informa- tional sessions and breakout discussions regard- ing a variety of topics to improve our Chapters' vision and our members' development. An aspect of our Chapter that has never changed is the immense, relentless support that our alum- ni provide. Without their guidance and support, Epsilon Kappa would be nowhere near the place it is today. They give us the tools we need to take our ambition to the next level, and that is something we will cherish forever. These men are leaders by example that Sigma Chi is a life- time commitment. Myself, and Epsilon Kappa as a whole, thank you for your dedication to the continued success of our organization.
