FARMHOUSE FRATERNITY Nebraska Chapter / University of Nebraska-Lincoln www.nebraskafarmhouse.org Spring 2019 Alumni Association Board Adjusting to Changes That Come with a New House Proud of the Nebraska FarmHouse Chapter Members W ith the new house finished, it has been a much more re- laxed year for the association, as well as the many other alumni that volunteered their efforts to the project. Like any undertaking of this size, it did not go off without some bumps, but Leo Daley, Hampton, and the subcontractors did an excellent job in providing an amazing building. Thanks again to all those that do- nated their time and money. The generous donations have allowed the association to be aggressive in paying down the mortgage, and we are on schedule, or ahead of our projections from a few years ago. The main focus of the association is how to handle the differences in procedures with a new house such as summer live-ins, semester checkout, lawncare, etc. It is obviously a major priority to keep the facility in the best shape possible, so some of the practices of the past needed to be changed. For the first time, FarmHouse is going to con- tract with a lawn service for mowing and other services. There are always numerous challenges for the Greek system, and it seems like any bad event involving a member gets overpublicized. However, I can tell you there are a lot of great young people in the Greek system, doing a lot of great things, and FarmHouse men are again leading the way. They continue to set the standard with their academics, philanthropy, and activities. The association board is still looking for new members. There were a number that had served for a long time and stepped down after the house was completed. One or two new board members would be welcome. We especially need someone to take the role of secretary. If you are interested in any capacity, please contact me. We would love to work with you.
