CHAPTER ETERNAL Margaret "Mimi" Britton Wingo, Alpha Beta '45 was born on September 9, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, and entered Chapter Eternal on October 22, 2018. She married Curtis W. Wingo on March 7, 1952, and they had two sons, Carl and Russell. Mimi was a graduate of Tiffin High School and graduated from Purdue University in 1948. She finished her master's degree in education at the University of Michigan in 1952. Mimi was a faculty member in the Home Economics department at the University of Missouri as director of the nursery school 1949-53. Although an initiate of Alpha Beta Chapter, Mimi served as chapter advisor and financial advisor for many years to Alpha Nu. We thank her for her years of volunteer service to our chapter. Virginia "Ginny" Walsh Andrews '48, was born December 15, 1929 in St. Louis, and departed this life on January 18, 2018, at the age of 88. Virginia married Dave Andrews on June 19, 1949. She had one son, Scott, two daughters, Barbie and Cindy, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ginny was an elementary school teacher for several years and a loving farm wife. Ginny was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kennett, Mo. ALUMNAE NEWS Jean Connelly Buhrig '47 visited Barbara Beck Beeching '48 in May 2017 after attending her granddaughter's college graduation. Jean and Barbara were roommates at one time and enjoyed catching up. She lives in Bronxville, N.Y. Email: jelubu@gmail.com Barbara Beck Beeching '48 was awarded her Ph.D. in U.S. History in 2010 and has since turned her dissertation into a book, Hopes and Expectations: The Origins of the Black Middle Class in Hartford. Barbara lives in Bloomfield, Ct. Email: bjbeeching@gmail.com Maudell Kraus Breedon '50 lost her husband in 1993. Maudell spends her retirement traveling and has been to 185 counties. She lives in Wildwood, Mo. Email: travlinmaude@aol.com LoVene Kraus Claypole '50 is 87 years old and still active with ΑΧΩ in Springfield, Mo. She also still does some tax returns for clients. LoVene has traveled to 173 countries and is active in the Republican Party. "I have been very fortunate," she says. She lives in Springfield, Mo. Email: lovenlucy@hotmail.com Sue James Daniel '54 is 85 and recalls how much ΑΧΩ meant to her. "The friends there will always be remembered and treasured. I benefited from the sisterhood socially and academically. Keep up the great work as a meaningful group." Joyce Diehr Schneider '54 and her husband, Tom, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last June with a Mass at St. Charles Burromeo Catholic Church and dinner preceded by cocktails and appetizers at a country club. "We are in relatively good health, thanks be to God." The couple lives in St. Charles, Mo. Joan Mulholland Strickler '54 is now living in a duplex within a retirement community called Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, Kan. "We are enjoying it very much." Email: jstrickl@ kansas.net Ruth Allen Becker '56 is enjoying retirement in Florida and loves visiting her family in Miami and Wisconsin and going on cruises with friends. Sandra Turner Clark '58 lost her husband, Jack, on July 6, 2018. "I miss him very, very much! He spoiled me." Sandra is now living with her oldest daughter, Kristin, and plans to visit her other two daughters. Karen Eddy Smith '61 is a substitute teacher. She lives in Mound, Minn. Email: ksmith1941@ gmail.com Sue Leopold Began '62 spends winters, January through March, in Phoenix, Ariz., and the rest of the year in Wisconsin. She has eight grandchildren, one girl and seven boys. The two oldest are in college and the youngest is in third grade. Email: sbegan99@aol.com Linda Raidt McKee '62 recently stopped by the ΑΧΩ house and was extremely impressed! She taught high school P.E. and coached at five schools for 18 years. Linda then took a real estate class in Northern Virginia in 1985 and the rest is history! She started in Oakton, Va., and became a top producer at Long & Foster, becoming president of their Gold Team. Linda retired from her second career in 2012 and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, Ed, last year. Email: galesr02@comcast.net Ginny Moody Staats '62 reads a lot, plays bingo, goes to the dog park with her young German Shepherd and belongs to a book club. She has 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild on the way. Lynn Huffstot Balzano '66 had a wonderful reunion with Sherri McMurry Kelting '67 and her husband, Ken, in Chicago. "Great time catching up on all of the intervening years since we were pledge sisters!" Lynn lives in Norwalk, Conn., with her husband, Vince. Email: lhbalzano@hotmail.com Lynn Welch Hancock '67 has had her oil paintings of flight attendants accepted into the Pan Am Museum Foundation, which has a permanent exhibit in the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, N.Y. "While doing these paintings, each brushstroke evoked a memory of adventures in far-flung lands, meeting people and having experiences I never would have dreamed of when I started." The portraits were the basis for the notecards she sold on her former website, StewardessStyle. Email: pgpw1@ yahoo.com Pamela Himmelberger Moulin '68 teaches 5-8 yoga classes a week and enjoys visits with her grandchildren in Des Moines, Iowa. Pam travels from her home in Southport, N.C., to a vacation destination two to three times per year, plays golf three times a week and walks at least four miles nearly every day. Susan is still working and playing USTA tennis and spending time with her grandchildren. She also stays in touch with several of her Alpha Chi sisters. She lives in Centennial, Colo. She keeps busy taking art lessons and teaching drawing to homeschoolers. Nancy has been asked to speak at a homeschool conference as well as to young women interested in building community.
