Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Missouri • Spring 2019 Making Safety Issues and Maintenance of the Chapter House a Priority A fter several large-scale projects to the interior and exterior of the chapter house, the house corporation board is focusing on improving security around the chapter house, executing routine maintenance and addressing some structural repairs for 2019. As stewards of our home-away-from-home at 900 Richmond Ave., we take a businesslike approach to managing the property. It isn't always easy when the wish list is long and expectations of the collegiate members are high. BELOW IS A YEAR-BY-YEAR SUMMARY OF RECENT PROJECTS: 2013: The first floor and lower level of the chapter house were completely renovated with financial support from alumnae and the chapter. The 2013 renovation was accomplished using $415,000 raised from alumnae, $150,000 donated by the chapter and an $800,000 bank loan. At the completion, the HCB's mortgage was $1.2 million. 2014: The north bathrooms on the second and third floors were renovated. The chapter also got a new paved parking lot directly behind the chapter house (moved from a gravel lot at the corner of 5th St. and Rollins). 2015: A security camera monitoring system was installed on the parking lot and at the chapter house. The exterior door locks were upgraded from combination locks to fingerprint access. 2016: New fire-rated safety bedroom doors and combination locks (eliminating the need for keys) were installed on all bedrooms. New hallway carpeting and painting was also completed for the second and third floors.
