"Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993) As the new beau of an entertainer's (Robin Williams) ex-wife (Sally Field), Brosnan amply puts forth the required charisma. "GoldenEye" (1995) Denied the role earlier by his "Remington Steele" contract, Brosnan becomes James Bond with great command, from the terrific airplane-stunt opening to the double-entendre- packed showdowns with iron-thighed villainess Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen). Brosnan would keep the role of Agent 007 for another eight years and another three movies. "Dante's Peak" (1997) Confirming his presence in and around all the special effects, Brosnan plays a volcano expert who's on hand for a major eruption near a town's immediately endangered population. "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1999) Even if a remake is unnecessary, it's nice for it to be respectable, which is the case as Brosnan reinterprets Steve McQueen's earlier role as a business tycoon who likes to dabble in robbery. "The Tailor of Panama" (2001) Putting a harder edge on his playing of the espionage game, Brosnan stars in John LeCarre's story of an operative who uses a tailor (Geoffrey Rush) as a pawn.
