Our Plan
T
he Beta Omicron alumni and undergraduate leadership has developed
a plan to address the long-term viability of our chapter. We know that
updates and maintenance to our Shelter are necessary, and we must invest in
our home to meet the needs of the next generation of students.
Highlights of the renovation:
• Modernize bathrooms to be competitive with other housing
options in Ithaca.
• Renovate the recreation room.
• Update bedrooms to decrease disparity in size and layout.
• Provide ample study space, including areas for individual and
group study.
• Decrease annual operating costs by 10-15% by upgrading
outdated systems, including:
o Replacing the steam heating system for greater
efficiency and temperature regulation.
o Updating the plumbing to avoid constant maintenance
repairs for clogged drains, toilets, and sink.
o Replacing windows and external doors to increase
energy efficiency.
o Updating electrical systems to accommodate a modern
power load and address safety issues.
• Make basic site improvements, including but not limited to
property lighting and landscaping for structural durability, safety,
and aesthetic appeal.
• Establish a scholarship fund that will help cover or defray the
costs associated with key national fraternity and Cornell-based
training and growth opportunities, including Karnea attendance,
regional conferences, and officer training.
