DELTA TAU DELTA s BETA OMICRON s CORNELL UNIVERSITY 3 Our Need for Action Our Shelter Since our Shelter opened in 1965, campus housing has changed significantly—especially within the last 10 to 15 years. The college experience is wholly different than what many of our alumni will remember. Residential facilities are the second most important factor in the college decision-making process behind the availability of a student's intended major. This is understandable considering that students spend 70% of their time within their living environment. Students and Parents Expecting More Today's students and their parents expect more for their housing dollars. With new residence halls in North Campus opening in fall 2022 adding 2,000 beds, members are being pulled away from the Shelter. With significant investments being made in on-campus facilities, our peer fraternities have seen the need to mirror the university by investing in their programming, facilities, and alumni relations. The following fraternities have made, or are in the process of making, major improvements to their chapter houses: Beta Omicron Pursuing Excellence While classroom experience is critical, the development of friendship and social skills might be even more important to success in today's business world. We know the fraternity provides social interaction that sets our members apart from the average college graduate. In many ways, our Shelter is potentially more impactful than any classroom. We know it is critical for Delta Tau Delta to improve our footing to remain competitive among the other great fraternities at Cornell. If we stand pat, we will lose potential new members to other houses and not be able to maintain the standard of excellence that is the hallmark of Delta Tau Delta. The Beta Omicron House Corporation has engaged Pennington & Company on a preliminary basis to help us evaluate our likelihood of initiating a multimillion-dollar campaign with alumni support. Having ample experience in the execution of campaigns both at Cornell and across the nation, Pennington has led more than 300 major campaigns and raised over $690 million in support of Greek life. With such a pivotal decision, we must take seriously the responsibility we all hold in defining the future of our fraternity. #1 Delta Kappa Epsilon Phi Kappa Psi Sigma Alpha Mu Chi Psi Alpha Sigma Phi Delta Upsilon Lambda Chi Alpha #2 #3 North Campus Freshman/Sophomore Housing Project to add 2,000 Beds Our challenge is to provide a quality living environment that supports and nurtures young men and will have a far-reaching effect on the lives of our Delt brothers for years to come.
