SPRING 2019 INSIDE: Alumna Spotlight p. 2 • Welcome to Theta Omega! p. 3 • Delta Diner Recap p. 3 THETA OMEGA UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS A Note from the Executive Office O ne hundred and thirty years young and going strong, Tri Delta continues to grow and change to meet the needs of our members – more than 230,000 brave, bold and kind women across the world, who are passionate about serving others and committed to becoming the very best versions of themselves. As a premier women's organization, we have always been willing to tackle the tough issues: diversity and inclusion (Tri Delta was the first Greek women's organization with a non-discrimination policy); disordered eating (via Reflections in the '90s to BodyImage3D in recent years); and sexual assault education and awareness (via current programs, Not Anymore and Clarifying Consent). In February, at Collegiate Leadership Conference, Tri Delta announced an initiative to address the growing mental health crisis on college campuses. Approximately 25 percent of college students are struggling with mental health issues ranging from ADD/ ADHD, depression and anxiety to more serious illnesses like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In partnership with the Human Power Project and with funding from the Tri Delta Foundation, our new, evidence-based, peer-led program aims to change the conversation around mental health and to provide our members with the tools and resources they may need to help themselves or others. It is being piloted at 23 collegiate chapters this spring, with plans for a full rollout across all 142 collegiate chapters in 2019-20. To stay informed about this and other Tri Delta initiatives, and to stay connected to your sisters, we encourage you to become a national dues-paying member.
