page 3 alpha chi omega W e have jumped right into the new year with excitement and more potential for growth in 2019. The new executive board was eager to get the ball rolling immediately upon our return to campus. In only a few short months, we have grown leaps and bounds with a shared goal of helping the chapter become more consistent and operational. We are also striving to encourage more individual member consistency and responsibility. This has motivated us to plan multiple sisterhood events per month, reintroduce an academic mentor system, participate in campus philanthropies, support other chapters, and execute seamless social events. The Executive Board has such a high level of enthusiasm, and I am already seeing and expecting great things to come from this group as we represent Xi Chapter. Our semester calendar is filled with opportunities to incorporate all of our fresh and new ideas. During the second week of January, VP Philanthropy Erin Wolf '16 worked with an Alpha Chi Omega alumna and business representative from Madida Clothing to host a pop-up shop in our living room. Seasonal merchandise was sold and 10% of the proceeds were donated directly to the Friendship Home. This was such an easy way to make a difference, and we plan to hold this event on a bimonthly basis. We also celebrated Valentine's Day in a big way this year. Parents Club Chairman Nikki White '17 worked diligently with several moms to put on the chapter's annual Chocolate Occasion. The kitchen was overflowing with baked goods, candy, chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! Everyone enjoyed their sweet treats and had a chance to destress and bond before the chaos of midterms set in. The chapter also hosted our annual Crush Formal at the Graduate Hotel in the Lincoln Haymarket. VP Risk Management Paige Madonia-Foster '17 oversaw and organized this event along with Social Chairmen Sadie Andrews '18 and Monroe Walker '18. They incorporated the new Alpha Chi Omega risk management policies and provided a safe and fun formal for the chapter and guests. We also made Valentines and care packages for the women and children residents at the Friendship Home. VP Membership Programming Olivia Kalvoda '17 came up with this creative, fun, and meaningful idea to promote sisterhood while helping those around us and supporting our philanthropic organization. A huge goal of ours was to incorporate the Friendship Home on a more consistent basis, and we have certainly made an excellent start! In the midst of all of our exciting events, we were also eligible to participate in continuous open bidding this semester. VP Recruitment Callahan Netsch '17 and VP Recruitment Information Jenna Zeleny '16 worked hard to review recruitment applications and introduce potential new members to active members of their potential pledge class. They also hosted an open house where cookies and coffee were provided. Everyone mingled and got a little taste of what it's like to be an Alpha Chi—we certainly do spend a lot of quality time in the kitchen! VP Public Relations and Marketing Katie Trout '18 also compiled a short video of active members to share some of our favorite memories! VP Ritual and Fraternity Appreciation Ally Kiehn '17 led the chapter in our New Member Ceremony to welcome our new members of Xi Chapter. We have been extremely productive as a chapter and are looking forward to a fun-filled semester with so many new opportunities for growth and success. I am thrilled to have been able to share a little glimpse of our semester.
